Alice allows you to immediately see how animated programs run, it enables you to easily understand the relationship between programming statements and the behavior of objects in their animation. In Alice's interactive interface, students grab and drop graphic tiles to create a program where the instructions correspond to standard statements in a procedural oriented programming language such as Java or C++ or C#. In Alice, 3D objects such as people, animals, vehicles, other very ordinary objects, populate a virtual world and students create a program to animate those objects. It allows people to learn fundamental programming concepts in the context of creating animated movies and simple video games. Alice is a freely available tool designed to be a person's first exposure to Object-Oriented Programming. Alice is an innovative 3D programming environment that makes it easy to create an animation for telling a story or playing an interactive game or even a video to share on the Internet. It is an easy and fun way to learn programming but it also develops real programming skills. Alice was developed at Carnegie Mellon University and it is available free to download.
